Around the World
Why this drill
Four points of the compass around a sloped hole give you the four putts that exist: uphill, downhill, and both breaks. Playing them in rotation teaches the real lesson of green reading — the same six feet is four different putts.
Setup
A hole cut on a visible slope. Four balls placed at six feet — directly above, directly below, and level on both sides.
The drill
Putt the circuit in order — uphill, left-to-right, downhill, right-to-left — reading each from behind as if it were new. Score a lap out of four; play five laps. Uphill you'll make firmly; downhill teaches the die-in speed; the two breakers teach aim points outside the hole. Log which compass point costs you most: that's not trivia, that's which putt to lag closer on the course and which to attack.

Every putt is straight at the apex — find the spot, then putt uphill through it.
