Call It Before You Look
Why this drill
Great distance control isn't a stroke, it's a calibrated guess — and guesses only calibrate when they're checked. Lag putts judged with eyes shut, called short or long before looking, rebuild the feedback loop most putting practice skips.
Setup
Ten balls, a hole or tee twenty-five feet away. Enough quiet to keep your eyes closed through the roll.
The drill
Putt, close your eyes at contact (or keep them down), and call the result before looking: "short," "past," or "flag high" — plus a distance guess in feet. Then look. Score a point when the call matches reality within a foot. Ten balls; six points means your hands already know what your eyes keep overruling. The players who improve fastest at this are the ones whose first three calls are wildly wrong — the gap is the lesson.
