The Doorway Turn

HomeHandicap 10+10 minblock workgolf fitness

Why this drill

A full shoulder turn with quiet hips is the swing's engine winding up — and a doorframe is a perfect turn coach. Standing in the frame, turning to touch each side, stretches and trains the exact rotation golf runs on, no club required.

Setup

A standard doorway. Golf posture, arms crossed over your chest, feet hip-width inside the frame. Stop at once if anything pinches — stretching should pull, never hurt.

The drill

In posture, turn your chest until your lead shoulder can touch or point at one side of the frame — hold three breaths, feeling the stretch across the back, hips staying as quiet as they'll allow. Turn through to the other side: trail shoulder to frame, hips releasing this time, back heel up like a finish. Eight slow turns each way, growing an inch at a time. Done daily, the backswing gets longer without a single swing thought — the body simply stops refusing.

Turn the chest, keep the belt calm — coil is the difference between the two.
