The Step-Through
Why this drill
Hanging back on the trail foot starves the swing of speed and buries the low point behind the ball. Stepping the trail foot through after impact makes staying back impossible — the body has to move to the target because it's about to walk there.
Setup
A mid iron off a low tee, ten balls, plenty of room to walk forward in the bay.
The drill
Swing at three-quarter speed and, just after impact, let the trail foot release and step past the lead foot, walking a step toward the target — the finish looks like a pitcher's follow-through. Ten balls. The strike thins or tops if you hang back, so the drill grades itself. When five in a row come off clean, hit five normal swings letting the weight finish just as far forward, feet staying planted.
