The Swoosh

Why this drill

Clubhead speed lives at the bottom of the swing, not the top. Swinging a club upside down and making the loudest swoosh past the lead leg — never before it — teaches late speed, the kind that adds carry without adding effort.

Setup

Flip your driver upside down and grip the shaft just above the head. Room to swing safely. No balls for the first half.

The drill

Ten full-speed swings listening for one thing: where the swoosh is loudest. Early — before your hands reach the ball position — means speed spent behind the ball. Move the sound so it peaks past your lead leg; swing as fast as you like, this is the one drill where hard is right. Then flip the club, tee five balls, and swing the driver at the same abandon, letting the strike take care of itself. Ignore direction today; this block buys speed, other blocks aim it.
