The Ten-Minute Golf Body

HomeAll handicaps10 minblock workgolf fitness

Why this drill

Golf asks the body for rotation, hinge, and balance, and gives back none of them with age unless dues are paid. Ten minutes of golf-specific movement — hips, thoracic spine, wrists, single-leg balance — is the cheapest handicap improvement in this library.

Setup

Floor space, a chair or club for balance, comfortable clothes. Nothing here should hurt: work to a stretch, never through a pain, and clear new exercise with a professional if you have a history.

The drill

Two minutes each, unhurried: hip circles and openers (stand tall, knee circles out and back); golf-posture hinges (hands on hips, bow and stand, spine long); thoracic rotations (hands across chest in posture, turn each way with a two-breath hold); wrist circles and flat-wrist holds; and single-leg balance — thirty seconds a side, eyes open, then closed if steady. Daily beats heroic: this circuit before every practice session doubles as the warm-up the range never sees.

Move like it's practice, because it is — the body is the first piece of equipment.
