The Tracked Ladder

Why this drill

Leapfrog with a referee: carry each ball farther than the last in ten-yard steps, with the screen calling the numbers. The tracked ladder trains the half-swing gears between your stock distances — the gaps where real approach shots actually live.

Setup

A tracked bay showing carry, one wedge or short iron, twelve balls. Pick a starting carry twenty yards under the club's stock number.

The drill

Ball one carries the starting number, plus or minus five. Each ball after must carry farther than the last but by no more than ten yards — a laddered climb toward the club's full distance. An over-jump or a shorter ball ends the run; count rungs and restart. Eight rungs is command of the gears. The screen removes all self-deception: "about eighty" is not eighty, and the ladder only climbs on real numbers.
