The Spin Window
Why this drill
Wedge shots that hop and stop aren't magic — they're clean grooves, clean strikes, and spin numbers that repeat. Watching spin on fifteen half wedges teaches what actually kills it (grass between face and ball, thin strikes, slow swings) faster than any tip.
Setup
Launch monitor reading spin, most-lofted wedge, fifteen balls — premium balls if possible, since range balls spin low and lie to you. Wipe the face every ball.
The drill
Fifteen nine-o'clock wedges at one carry number. Watch spin, not carry: note your window — a clean half wedge should sit in a repeatable band, and the drill is narrowing yours. After every low outlier, name the cause before the next swing: face grass, strike high on the face, deceleration. Grooves clean, hands ahead, commit through. A tight window matters more than a high number: the wedge that spins the same is the wedge you can aim at flags with.
